  • WHY REPLACE FAILED EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND NOT BATTERIES

    EMERGENCY LIGHTING

Experience has proved to us time after time that it is more cost effective to replace complete exit and emergency light fittings when they fail a battery test.

There are two primary reasons why exit and emergency lights fail to operate on their back up battery supply.

The reason for battery failure is due to them becoming discharged, not holding a charge or not receiving a charge from the power converter.

When it is identified that the battery is the likely cause of light failure it is very difficult to identify if it simply faulty batteries or that the light charging unit is not functioning.

Therefore the replacement of batteries is not a guarantee that the light will function as required and that it may simply fail again at the next service. The light may in fact appear to function under backup power due to the charge in the new battery, but fail to recharge beyond that.

As a consumer you may think it worth the gamble to replace batteries; however history shows that the battery is not the problem and the cost of the problem will be greater when at the next test the light again fails and requires replacement.

Based on this scenario, Survival Solutions promotes the replacement of failed lights with new ones, therefore eliminating potentially unnecessary expense.
